CHICAGO -

Plus-sized women’s clothing retailer, Avenue Stores, is closing all 222 stores in 33 states, including those in Boardman and Howland.

Avenue operates locations along Route 224 in the Boardman Plaza and along Route 422 in the Howland Commons.

According to a news release from the companies hired to carry out going-out-of-business sales for Avenue, price reductions of 30-50% off lowest ticketed prices will be offered to customers on all merchandise including denim, swimwear, shoes, accessories and more.

Avenue sells plus size fashions in women's sizes 14-32.  All items, brands, and even in-store fixtures are being sold.

Retail store sales are being conducted by a joint venture consisting of Gordon Brothers and Hilco.

The reason or reasons for the closings were not disclosed.

Avenue first opened in 1983 under the name Sizes Unlimited.
