Local fire departments receive $32,000 in wildfire equipment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry is providing $95,000 of wildfire equipment to rural fire departments in the state.

Twenty-four rural departments were provided with equipment including some in Mahoning and Trumbull County.

According to the release, the departments were selected through the Volunteer Fire Assistance Summer 2019 Wildland Fire Personal Protective Equipment and Wildland Fire Tools competitive grant program.

The local departments below were selected:

  • Bloomfield Fire Department - Trumbull County - $4,551.10
  • Burghill Vernon Volunteer Fire Department - Trumbull County - $4,551.10
  • Damascus Fire Department - Mahoning County - $4,551.10
  • Greene Township Volunteer Fire Department - Trumbull County - $1,381.84
  • Green Township Volunteer Fire Department - Mahoning County - $3,623.72
  • Kinsman Township Fire Department - Trumbull County - $4,377.38
  • Milton Township Volunteer Fire Department - Mahoning County - $4,551.10
  • Warren Township Fire Department - Trumbull County - $4,551.10

The grant gives fire departments up to equipment that includes hard hats, leather gloves, goggles, and other tools.

In total, the departments in Mahoning and Trumbull County will receive $32,138.44 in total equipment.
