Progress on park near Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre going slow

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre has been a popular spot for locals this summer, holding more than ten events.

Twenty-five thousand people attended those events, but while the amphitheatre has been a success, Wean Park and Community Alley have been slow to develop.

Eric Ryan with JAC Management, says the weather wreaked havoc on the landscaping in the area.

Ryan told Youngstown City Council Wednesday tonight that it will be tough to book events at Wean Park and Community Alley this year.

"Without the lawn, we feel that it is going to be very difficult to book events there this year. They're telling us we should have some grass by fall depending on what the weather is," said Ryan.

City council also learned about the prices to rent out the facilities.

Renting them will range from $2,500 to $6,500 depending on what is needed.

Non-profits will be able to rent the space at a discounted price.
